Re: Bataan
Outside of quoting from the book it would be easier to google it. The Japanese were extremely brutal. Even the soldiers (allied)resorted to different forms of brutality amongst themselves. Lack of food, water, medicine etc. and just the plain outright inhumane treatment. Kneeling on rocks with a stick in back of their legs for 32 hrs. Constant beatings, solidary confinement, the heat,(the cold in Japan)diseases and little treatment. It got even worse when a large amount were sent to Japan to work coal mines, mills whatever. A lot were killed by U.S subs while being transported. Many more died in the bombing raids on Japan. (nuke included) I just got done with this book and so it's still fresh in my mind. Too much to put down here though. I just couldn't imagine going through all they did and still survive. If you can dig up the book by all means read it. Gut wrenching.
