Food & Water On The March
The U.S. Model 1918 canteen and cup. Introduced in the final months of the First War World, this aluminum constructed 1 quart combination featured a bakelite plastic cap attached to the neck by a small length of chain and a folding handle cup that fit snugly over the base when not in use. The unit fit into a canvass cover that then hung via hooks from a garrison belt. This sturdy canteen was issued in the millions to American service members in all branches and fronts during World War II and remained in service right through the Korean war.
