LT I would suggest a read of Harry Turtledoves' "Days of Infamy" and "The end of the Beginning" 2 very good "What ifs" on the subject.


According to the books....yer right, the carrier force would have been helpless..and just run away home. And After some fighting,the IJA and IJN would have taken the Hawaiian Islands. We would have had to add the Islands to another one of our Island Hopping strategy. And the place would have suffered the Japanese Occupation, and all that came with it.

Interesting idea. I think it would have set the US back a bit....We still would have won...but the cost would have been a tad bit higher.
