Thomas Hassey - My other Grandad
As an Irish national Thomas was a non-combatant but I believe he, and many other Irish nationals, played an important part in the war. With Britain having the majority of its males between 18 & 35 in the military it was short of labour for building work. Mostly airfields. Many Grandad came across the water for the work. Unfortunaley, he was quite badly injured when he was run over. My Grandmother and their young son, my Uncle, came across to be with him. They never went back!!
