WWII should be ok as a predominant theme. There should be enough games to cover a wide variety of format (RPG, Naval, Air, etc). It will just be a matter of organizing, recruiting players and keep it (them) rolling along. We should aim to keep everyone involved but not string people out among too many ongoing games so that they get burned out. Keeping the game moving at the right pace is critical to keeping interest up.
Those are really important points. It would be good if players can give some kind of idea to a game organiser as to their level of interest (curious/wanted to have a go/won't sleep till the next move is available) and perhaps their own opinion on their current gaming level and experience.

It may then be easier to help people start out in beginners games and move on to more complex things when ready.
