I'd like to see some air themed games. If AirForce/Dauntless wasn't so detailed I could see that being used to run something here although I am not sure I could still find my copies in the attic. Does anyone know if there are any fairly simple WWII air combat boardgames similar to Richthofen's War? I know I'll be busy with the SASL game so my running it would be out for the next few months BUT maybe someone else would step up and put something together. ;(
I agree, DD...Air War is a much neglected subject in the Gaming world. Off the top of my head:
  • Avalon Hill? came out with a solitaire game called "London's Burning". I have it in my collection somewhere, but have never played it. Peeking at the rules in the past, it seemed fairly easy to play. Not sure if it can be morphed into a two or more player game. I'll try and locate it and look it over.
  • Axis & Allies Miniatures introduced air power to the system with it's third Set, "Contested Skies". Though I own a number of the planes, I have not used them yet, and am unclear as to their operational capabilities (other than playing one, and only one opponent in a DCI Tournament, who used a plane to marginal effect (I beat the pants off the little snot!). Again, not sure it can be morphed into a two or more player game. Also, it would involve corrdination with ground forces...not just air exclusively.
  • Days of Wonder introduced air power to their "Memoir '44" game, with the "Air Pack Expansion"; but as in the AAM game above, it would involve corrdination with ground forces...not just air exclusively. This can, however, be developed into a multplayer game with some clever design.

Anyone else own any of these; have any thoughts?

EDIT:

Oh yeah...I think there was also a game called B-17...not sure who did it
