Re: What is a basic "war/conflict" game

I think the problem with a lot of war/conflict gams, especially WWII is most require fairly lengthy play. And a lot of them are two player. But there are a few gems out there....it's just, how to put it in a workable format. Magna really has an excellent model up and running....pictures of the battlemap to give players a reference of where things stand; general order system, but the nitty gritty (and certain decisions, even if not what the players were expecting) played out by the Game Master; players in teams...all excellent, well thought out game mechanics.

I have a couple I have in mind, but just haven't sat down long enough to work out the game mechanics...i.e., how to morph the game into an Online playable version. The one's I'm thinking about are, Memoir '44 Overlord; Axis & Allies: D-Day; and Band of Heroes. A couple others are floating around my noggin, including an incrdible Commando game and Axis & Allies Miniatures. One game that is really intriguing is an old game called Escape for Colditz. All great games...but all require time to put together. A good example of the headache involved in actually doing this kind of "Advanced Scouting and Recce" is Double Deuce's SASL game he's working on. Keep up the good work, Mate!
