That honour apparently belongs to the B17 `Hell's Angel' of the 303rd Bomber Group based at Molesworth.
Whilst `Memphis Belle' was the first to complete 25 missions AND return to the United States, `Hell's Angel' went on to fly a further 48 missions before returning home.
Never mind! `Memphis Belle' was still a damn good movie.

First I have heard of this. What supproting evidence do you have for the claim? The Memphis Belle and crew were presented to the King because it was the first to fly 25 missions. It was sen back to the States on a war bond drive because it was the first to complete 25 missions.
Remember, the point was it was the first crew to 25, not the plane.
P.S. Memphis Belle was a terrible movie!
