Maybe instead of worrying too much about American freedom of speech, we should look, why in some countries T-shirt with swastika can earn owner three years behind bars, but T- shirt with Che Guevara at the front and "hammer and sickle" at the back, can at worst bring a couple more free beers in the pub...
Communists have been more heavily persecuted in US but never banned. If you are not familiar with names like Senator Joseph McCarthy and Alger Hiss (and Richard Nixon and Dwight Eisenhower), you will be surprised to find out what happened in this country in the 1950's. Many innocent people were "black listed" including some that I later came to know.

In the US, a Swastika will generally get you some strange looks and perhaps a few glares, but a Hammer and Sickle may get you beaten up at the bar.

I'm not "worried" about American freedom of speech. It's one of the great assets of our country. I believe that extremists are their own worst enemies and letting them speak exposes them for who they are. But if your comments are directed at places where the Swastika and organizations who would use them are illegal, I would think that it is up to the people of each nation to decide what for them is in their best interest.
