Pledge is brilliant stuff for washes too. It has an anti-osmosis effect which pulls the colour in the wash down into seams instead of it beading up and out onto the surface of the model. As each layer dries the next can be done in a different colour if required. It really is good for uniforms and the like if you are like me and not too experienced with highlighting. It is mixed half and half with water then you add a little bit to your paint for a wash. Very easy.

Sounds like one of those 'agents' that changes the surface tension of the paint...a drop of Windex or dishwashing liquid works as well. Vigorous stirring can cause a troublesome froth though.
