Re: Tips and helpful suggestions
I take a little from both sides. It never occurred to me to do anything like a 'quick build', where I'm less concerned with finish and detail, until I started doing little 1/72 aircraft for my son to smash in ten minutes. Usually, I don't even paint 'em and I have a fair collection of intact 1/72 decals. Part of the reason I only build vehicles (when I do) in 1/35 and aircraft in 1/48 or above is because it's the right 'space' for the level of detail that pushes my modelling buttons. For me, the detail (such as brass bomb fins in 1/72) is where the challenge and the 'buzz' lies for me. And weathering. Different for everybody of course...some folks could build my Panzer IV in a week, I've taken six months or more now, both models may end up being comparable in terms of viewer interest or enjoyment too. I also enjoy the ingenuity folks have when they make a part or enhance a part or whatever 'additions' they make.
