yes there were orders from the high command in regards to the camouflage of all german vehicles how the paint supplies were utilised and the way they were camouflaged was left up to the unit commanders. individual unit,s painted there vehicles differently and the commanders dictated how the were painted due to the theatres of operation ie some colours were used more heavily than others. as the war progressed any camouflaging was undertaken rigourously by commanders it was a matter of survival also dont forget dwindling supplies didnt help the crews at all and captured paint was often used as well
