If you are talking about the attack on the USS Liberty by the Israel Defense Force, that was June 8th 1967 during the 6 day war. It was mistakenly identified as an Egyptian destroyer.

Yes,the 8th. But yep,that was the cover up story alright. An act of war is more like it. Just ask the survivors. They meet once a year. If ya don't make them mad, they might just give a sick laugh. There was absolutely no comparison to ANY Egyptian ship. It would serve you and others well to read up on it.
