Fully agree with some of the recent comments posted earlier regarding politicians. Personal belief is that those who desire to become politicians should be barred from doing so, instead perspective politicians should be chosen on merit and suitability. In addition, each should have at least served in that country's military in some capacity (and not by forged paperwork), ideally in an active service role at the frontline. Only after such experience could such decisions and associated implications be fully understood as part of a balanced decision. Such an approach would not produce a 'weak or indecisive' policy as some assert. But would ensure that if a nation has to use force it will be as an absolute and not as a first comfort measure.
