The one time I've evr stripped paint, I used a product called 'ELO Easy Lift Off' by 'Poly S'. It comes in a white and brown tin and works like a charm. I used an old oven tray to do it in. You paint the stuff straight onto the model, leave it until the paint 'crazes' and then use an old toothbrush to remove it. It leaves the odd little bit in cracks and crevasses but it works really well and is purpose made.
