Technically I am not in a "crash zone" and not really in the highest noise zone either. My city (Virginia Beach) is right at the coast and much of the training is off-shore (except touch and goes which can go on for hours it seems). Some days, however, they rotate and the planes are right overhead, but they don't run routine training much very late at night.

Many of the carriers are based in Norfolk, next door. When they go out and come back the jets fly when the ships are a day out from the base, so a day after the ship leaves and a day before it arrives back from its deployment. Those days, when ALL of the squadrons are flying, they seem to routed right through my living room.
