Seriously it's an interestin' thought but in the end it comes down to what type of battlefield we're talkin' 'bout here. The old tanks would have serious trouble to hit an modern tank in a battle in a large open field as it would constantly be movin' at high speed n' pickin' out the older tanks one by one at a great distance without slowin' down. Of course a hit from a KwK43 L/71 or a KwK42 L/70 would mean serious trouble at close range for an modern tank dependin' on where it hits. Even a Panzerfasut would be a threat to any modern tank even if it probably wouldn't take it out except from the rear.
The main factor for an modern tank ain't armour but it's speed/mobility n' firepower (computerized optics n' gun + stabilizator).
