Without a doubt the best soldier of the War Between the States was General Nathan Bedford Forrest CSA. Innovative tactics, personal courage and his strategy of "Hit em where they ain't" and "Get there firstest with the mostest" was basically the strategy Nimitz used in the Pacific Naval campaign in WW2.
