Reading two right now-"Sea of Thunder" by Evan Thomas--a quadruple biography covering Halsey, Evans, Ugaki and Kurita and their actions at Leyte Gulf. Nothing new revealed but highly readble. And Joseph Alexander's "Closing In-The Marines on Iwo Jima". This is one of a 20-odd volume series of monographs put out by the USMC for the 50th Anniversary.They're short (about 50 to 100 pages) but well written, nicely illustrated covering the usual (Guadalcanal, etc) and offbeat (Marines in the ETO, role of women in the Marine Corps, etc)-very well done and worth having.
