hello-also searching for info.
My Grandfather was a WWII Vet. Unfortunately, like so many, he passed before I ever got to the age to hear first hand about his stories and experiences.
He did however leave me quite a few things to help me put together some sort of framework.
One of the things he saved/left was a box of "Newsmap"s - For The Armed Forces (Distributed by the Army Information Branch), through the end of '43 - to the beginning of '45, (45 in total). I believe they must of hung in an enlistment office, where I believe he was stationed Stateside for part of his service.
I've seen them in random places on the web, (usually the big poster sides), but I'm wondering if anyone has any further information on what exactly they are, (were they sent to all the soldiers?, offices, etc.?b quite common)
Any info. would be a great help.
