Doenitz was right the vast majority of German soldiers were only fighting for their country like everyone else. They fought valiently and bravely many times. They took on the whole world and gave them a very good run for their money. It took 20,000,000 men at arms to stop them. And the whole of the Western World. They very nearly won as well. Even in 1943 the allies were not sure that they would win. Those soldiers should be honoured and respected as any other man who makes that supreme scarifice fior his country.
