One thing I read that surprised me was that US & British
air squadron sizes were different. A British squadron was
around the size of US air group (~ 40 - 50 planes at full
strength). A US air squadron was ~ 12 - 16 planes.
I don't recall what British subsections of a squadron was.

The US military standarized dates in the British form
I believe in '43 (I.E. 6 June '44 vs. US civilian standard
of June 6, '44). This prevented potential disasters
(attack on 2/1! & the British jump off 2 Jan. while the
US wait for Feb. 2).

I would have thought squadron sizes would have been
standarized too, but guess there was too much of a culture
clash ...

I had read that a squadron flew the Dam Busters raid,
and as an American I had always thought that seemed
a small unit to pull off that, so it sometimes crosses you up ...
