German Legionnaires

I once read that, German veterans of the French Foreign Legion after rejoining the German military were all put together in one unit. And fought in the desert with Rommels Afrika Korps. Can anyone give me some info on these German Legionnaires? I also seem to remember that these Legionnaires were looked on with some suspicion by the German High Command as they were once in the employ of the French. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: German Legionnaires

There is World War II: A Tale of the French Foreign Legion which describes what become of some German Legionnaires though it does not answer your specific question.

Re: German Legionnaires

Thanks Jim

Even though it doesn't answer my question it's a very interesting article. Pretty devious of the Abwehr to try and flood the Legion with "volunteers" for the sole purpose of destroying the Legion from within.

Re: German Legionnaires

Right. Sounds like a complete waste of time to me.
