Re: Focke-Wulf Fw 190

Good eye, that wing was shared with the D11.

WHY WHY WHY

The experimental MK108 pylons on the A6 are understandable. The enbafflement (my word, lol) comes from the ranging radar. Why was it not removed when they decided not to install the mortars? There wasn't any electrical connection on this aircraft between the radar and guns as there was with the mortars. Was there a range display in the cockpit to be used in firing? The gunsight (I've been told) was standard. I just don't know enough about this plane to answer this question.

Re: Focke-Wulf Fw 190

All the d series focke wulfs shared the same wing as the a8. The a8 was the aircraft the d9 was based and converted off so it would not have been uncommen to see some of the r series modification's on d9 aircraft. The only focke wulf aircraft not to share the same wing was the ta-152

Re: Focke-Wulf Fw 190

LAH

sorry that I did not make myslef clear. For the JG's that operated the Dora 9 Fw, I do not know of one instance of any r variants applied but only the standard in armament of the twin mg 131 and the twin Mg 151/20 2cm cannons.

JG 301 when they first accepted the Dora 9 in December of 44 the r inclusion was to make the Dora an allround weather fighter as they did with the r11 in the Fw 190A-9 except that in many cases though listed in their official line up none opf the A-9's had the weather realated r-11 package
