Re: All American Nose Art - PG-13

Looking at the guys on top, they appear to be British? Not sexy enough for sinful Yanks. I have a bunch of t-shirts with WW2 US nose art on the back.I get some great comments.

Re: All American Nose Art - PG-13

Looks like a RAF Halifax BIII to me, particularly with the black 'Bomber Command' night bomber colours.

Re: All American Nose Art - PG-13

Compare the curvature of the top of the airplane to the pic above it and you will see they are close to exactly the same. Doesn't that makes it a B-17 not a Halifax? What are you guys looking at?

Re: All American Nose Art - PG-13

If it is a B17 where is the astro-dome and cheek windows (the ones with 50 cals in). Still Bomber command scheme which would make it a British B17 (i.e. not American!!). Note the B17F nose on the picture below:

Also note the aerial on the bottom of 'Vicky's' nose compared to the picture below:

I think Wolster may well have a good point.Either way, the guys on top of the plane do look to be British.

Re: All American Nose Art - PG-13

I came across these three while doing some research for another post. They were taken in November of 1945 by a crewman on the USS Slater.

Re: All American Nose Art - PG-13

I had a great-uncle who flew b-17's during the war. The name of his bird was PIZDOF.
