All American Nose Art - PG-13

I really don't think we need any captions for these...

Re: All American Nose Art - PG-13

I lucked out and found quite a few of these. Many were service person snap shots, and may be a little dark. The thing I like about them is I think they really capture that American persona.

There's lots of information hiding in those dark pixels.

I took the liberty of adjusting the levels. I hope you don't mind.

No Jim, not at all. I was a bit apprehensive about lightening some of these to make them more legible, but you made the call and I'm glad you did.

Heck, if you're going to show the photo, I figure why not be able to see it?

Re: All American Nose Art - PG-13

You've been reading my mind Paul. Excellent idea for a thread and some great pics. (Working hard to get my scanner up and running). There was some excellently executed artwork done on US aircraft...I give you 'Air-A-Cutie'.
This P-39 (actually a P-400, the designation given to Airacobras returned to the US by Britain) served with the 8th Fighter Group in New Guinea against the Japanese. It was the first unit to use the type 'in anger'.
Peace.

Perhaps a thread dealing with the art of other nations might be appropriate too?

Re: All American Nose Art - PG-13

Good one Nick! Get that scanner up and running, nose art is great stuff and we can never have too much of it displayed here.
