Re: Combat Aerial Photography

Here are two enlargements of a frame of imagery taken by 140 Squadron on the 5 June 1944, D-Day+1.
Is from a railway yard at Chateaudun, France.

At about this time 140 Sqn were flying the Spitfire PR.XI

Re: Combat Aerial Photography

If these frames are by 140 Squadron and taken on the 5 June 1944, of a railway yard at Chateaudun, France, then it is most likely that they are from Mosquito MM305, piloted by F/O R. Batenburgh and navigated by P/O Walter Le May. 140 Squadron had ceased to operate Spitfires by that date.

Re: Combat Aerial Photography

It is also either D-Day +1 or June 5th not both. D-Day +1 is June 7th and June 5th is D-Day -1.

Sweet site though Mick. My only correction is that there were way more that 18 escape attempts from Colditz.

D-Day was June 6,1944. +# or -# means it was # number of days with respect to D-Day. So D-Day +1 is June 7th, one day after D-Day, and June 5th is D-Day -1, one day before D-Day.

That what you mean?
