Re: Bombers on the Wing

A Do 17 in a world of hurt. A few seconds later and this would be in the "aircraft wrecks" thread!

Re: Bombers on the Wing

Supposedly the Ju 390 flew to within 12 miles of the East Coast of the US, near New York. Things that make ya go hmmmmmmmm.

Re: Bombers on the Wing

An He 115 attacking merchant shipping in the English
Chanel, 1940. (The He 115 was more of a recon plane, but made a good anti-shipping/torpedo bomber, so I'm not sure if it goes in this thread or not)

Re: Bombers on the Wing

The anti-submarine GR V Liberator. Fitted with Mk III radar to detect surfaced U boats, rockets to suppress AA fire during the attack run, bombs and depth charges to finish off the target. Visible in this photo is the nose radome, radar antenna beneath the wings and rocket rails at the fuselage. This was one nasty bomber for a U boat to encounter.
