Looking for info - Battery A, 90th Battalion

Hello,
I'm new here but thought someone could help me find out more about my Dad's day's in the Army. Here's what I've found out so far:

Inducted: 10 Apr 44 in Ft Thomas, KY
Discharged: 14 May 46 from Camp Atterbury, IN

Went to Artillery Mechanics School in Fort Sill, OK, between Aug and Oct, 1944

Was Staff Sergeant, Battery A, 90th Field Artillery Battalion
His papers also say: Supply NCO 821; Carbine MKM
>> I know NCO means "Non-Commissioned Officer". I would guess that the "Carbine MKM" means he was proficient with that rifle <<

Went to destination "AP" (Philippines? Japan?) on Jun 29, 1945, and returned Jul 28, 1945

There's nothing in his records about dates between Oct 44 and June 45 - Does anybody know where Battery A, 90th Battallion was then?

Medals:
Occupation Ribbon (Japan)
American Theater Ribbon
Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon
Philippine Liberation Ribbon
Good Conduct Medal
Victory Medal WWII

He passed away and my family is trying to piece together his Army history.

Many Thanks,
Steve in Cincinnati

I would say he spent that time, from Jan 45 on in the Philipines with his battery in the 25th Inf Div. The above picture is of a 90th Field Artillery Battalion gun in action at Luzon in the Philipines.

In the 80's I was in the 25th Inf.

Didn't the US codebreakers before the Battle of Midway
see "AK"(?) as the Japanese target? They secretly asked
Midway to transmit in the clear a message that their water
distillery broke down. Sure enough, they intercepted a
later Japanese message that "AK"(?) was running low
on fresh water.

So were Japanese & the US using the same 2 letter A codes
for places???
