American Service Awards

The combat Infantry Badge (CIB) .This award was unique in that the recipient had to have engaged in combat against an armed enemy. The requirement of combat against an armed enemy meant just that, general officers and officers above Regimental Colonel were not entitled to receive the medal
There were/are basically three requirements for award of the CIB. The soldier must be an infantryman satisfactorily performing infantry duties, must be assigned to an infantry unit during such time as the unit is engaged in active ground combat, and must actively participate in such ground combat. Campaign or battle credit alone is not sufficient for award of the CIB."

Re: American Service Awards

Dallas! I'm sorry if my post was somewhat misleading mate! It's not my own personal campaign medal, it's from my collection! Much as I would like to say I won it in Afghanistan helping to crush the Taliban, alas, that would be completely untrue! I am posting some photos of my American medal collection - sorry for the confusion but your sentiment is appreciated! While my countries contribution in manpower is small by America's levels, we are the largest non-NATO combat force in Afghanistan, and we just had another fatality last week, one of our commandos was KIA there. Our new Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, was recently at the latest NATO meeting in Europe, attempting to drum up support from the NATO family for more combat troops in the campaign.
