Re: D-Day

Some famous photos that most have seen before, but no D-Day thread is complete without this first one of Ike giving these paratroopers a pre-drop pep talk.

You can see from their patches that they are from the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles).

At Utah Beach, these GI's reached land using a life raft after their landing craft was sunk. They are being aided by other GI's.

Re: D-Day

Nope, The same here. The pics are there but they're hosted at a place that's not perfect for hotlinkin'.

When posting pictures the best alternatives for our members is to manage a personal Http-server that they can store their pictures on or as a second best alternative using the embedd function here at the Zone where they upload the pictures in question so that the Zone host 'em.

I strongly advice members to not hotlink pictures as it more often than not will lead to a broken link sooner or later. Plus the fact there's no risk of gettin' banned for postin' porn or some other unallowed pictures, 'cos some companies that have a hotlink protection system just replace the wanted picture with a nasty one of their choice. The poster won't notice it 'til it's too late as they have the right picture in the cache.

McCoy is spot on here! If anyone needs a hand or a walk through on embedding photos I'd be glad to help.
