Re: Under Fire

It amazes me how cool some people can stay. Check out the guy just standing there in Zhitomir. I'd be doing my best to become a cobble-stone and wondering where I could change my underwear (again).

I remember seeing that photo in a book at primary school. The photo was captioned US paratroopers advance during Operation Market Garden. Can't remember the name of it, just remember red cover and two inches thick.

Are you sure of it's authenticity of being a real WW2 photo?

Porta's Kitchen > Books > O.G.P.U Prison > O.G.P.U Prison Book Covers > Italian cover for Prigione ghepeu.

My dad's got maybee five Italian Hassel books n' they all have real photos on their cover. My Swedish editions have some bad n' blurry colourpaintin's in a crosshair for the cover.

And yes, that's a real wartime photo.

Re: Under Fire

Interesting camera angle of U848 during the attack. I wonder what was taking the photo? It seems as if it could be a low level aircraft gun camera pic perhaps.

Re: Under Fire

From firsthand experience, when the mortars and artillery come in, you need to get low due to shrapnel. When you are getting pummelled though, sometimes it is best to just get the heck out of dodge. What we would do in Iraq is hunker down until our counterbattery fire knocked out the enemy emplacements. Usually though, with this war, a few rounds are fired, and they beat feet out of there before counterbattery comes to blast them.
