The Heat Of Battle II Wargame Convention
Starts Today, Friday, Aug 22 9:00a to 5:00p
at The National World War II Museum, New Orleans, LA
Based on the overwhelming success of last year's Heat of Battle, The National World War II Museum is once again holding an event: Heat of Battle II , The National World War II Wargame Convention. The wargames simulate historical military actions at all levels and the public is invited to learn about World War II by observing and/or participating in this engaging hobby.
Board, miniature and strategic computer games about World War II will be played throughout the conference. Exhibit panels, staff and volunteer interpreters will discuss wargames, the war and the hobby of wargaming. But the best way to learn about what happened (and what could have happened) is to take the place of an American lieutenant, a German pilot or the captain of a British or Japanese destroyer and make your own decisions! The games played range from simple to complex, in all theatres of the war and on land, sea and air. You may want to bookmark this site, as it looks to be an annual gig; plus a fascinating place to visit.
This is the only American wargame convention held inside a museum where the public can experience the event. Inexpensive hotel rooms are available at the Hotel New Orleans (only 4 blocks away.)
