I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that "Gulaschkanone" (singular) does not mean "field kitchen." It translates literally as Goulash Cannon, being a nickname for a field kitchen.

For other such useful tidbits, start setting aside your pennies, pfennigs, and kröner for my forthcoming glossary of WWII German words, phrases, abbreviations, and miscellaneous little bits of trivia...
Ergo, the substance they are consuming would be "cannon fodder"

Shut up Hal, go to bed. It's way to late for you to be posting!

Or mayhap, cannon fodder fodder?

If a Catholic chaplain blessed one of those contraptions, would he then be a cannon fodder father?

Ahem...

Let's get back on topic...

Re: Chow!

I figured Goulash Cannon as opposed to field kitchen, which is, would throw some people. But hey, who am I to stand in the way of another of Tom's plugs.
