I would like feedback on my air rules for Memoir 44. Please let me know the following about these rules that can be found here;
Memoir '44 Projects of 50th 1.) How easy are the rules to understand? 2.) How easy are the rules to play? 3.) What would you add or change in the rules as they are? Thank you WW2zoners.

I can see that. Something like a flag roll. Hey, I like suggestions. I do like the fact that, right now the air rules are on only two pages. If I add very much more, I would have to add a page. Not the worst thing to have happen, if they add to the game.

OK, I did add that change. But only to ships and anti-aircraft artillery fire because that happens before the air unit can make it's attack. But also I felt that the Japanese, because of Kamikaze attacks, are immune to retreats. I feel that the Japanese would press the attack, even if their aircraft were on fire, and if necessary, use the aircraft itself as the weapon when out of ammunition or usable guns. I also changed some of the wording because I want these rules to be understood the first time they are read. I wrote these rules while at a convention last year. I sat down for about an hour and came up with these rules.

FoW is for the "first front" war, Germany, so I bet when they get to Japan they will do something quite different in this aspect. I can see German, British and US (Japan would be quite different depending on the battles timeframe) airmen breaking off an attack in case they came under heavy, and accurate fire. It could also mean (the dice roll) that the AA was disturbing the planes aiming point so in fact there waere shots fired, but were way off target.
Cheers, glad you liked it, tell me how it goes when you get a game in that used this rule. Tom |
