Very cool...I hope to see this one up and running soon!

Just so everyone knows, and have probably guessed, when the game is ready to fly, DD will start a thread in The Game Den. Party on folks!

Re: SASL (Solitaire ASL) Game Idea

Just an FYI for those who are familiar with ASL. I will be handling the details of the Rallying, Routing and actual Close Combat phases so there will be no need for submitting information on those phases. Rallying and Routing will be done based on terrain, closeness of enemy forces and friendly leaders who would be in a position to Rally broken units. Close Combat odds will be determined and based on the best possible odds that can be achieved for the players forces involved. Other things may be tweaked as the game progresses and included in future versions unto we get the best possible system to make this work and keep it fun for everyone.

Question Re: SASL (Solitaire ASL) Game Idea

D.D, what are your thoughts on how you want the H.Q. command to "fit in", just more squads, or some command or suggestions for the other platoons leader players, no idea here......??

The H.Q would consist of what specifically?, I like that regular German platoon to!!

The Company Commander will be overall in charge to basically guide the other platoons in the overall plan (no micromanaging here). He will use his men to support the line platoons and help rally any broken units, etc. I would like the Platoon Leaders to be fairly free to run their platoons in the turn to turn operations. The CO may give each platoon an objective, then let them get it done in the manner they choose, while supporting their advance/movement.

The German HQ Platoon would consist of:

HQ Platoon
Leader x1 (CO Commander), 2-4-7 x2 (half-squads/sections), 1-2-7 x2 (crews), HMG x1, MMG x1. He will be responsible for the deployment and targeting, etc of these units.

The CO Commander will also have at his disposal a support vehicle of some type, either a halftrack, armored car or assault gun. This will not be determined until the 1st turn as it will arrive on the field as an unexpected reinforcement.

Cool Re: SASL (Solitaire ASL) Game Idea

Thanks buddy, now, I will put a tentative H.Q. please, for me, BUT, if someone else wants to run that, give the H.Q. to them first!! And I will settle for the Grenadiers........

Cheers, get your picks in here people, and lets put DD to "work", or shall I say the FUN work!!!!

Platoon Leaders Needed!

Just a reminder, recruiting is now open for Platoon Leaders.

IF you are concerned about the complexity of ASL have no fear. You will only need to know the basics and we will go over much of that as we get started. The 1st turn or so should be just moving your men onto the the map and getting organized. We will also use that time to test the order submission forms and tweak them as needed. Players will need to know move rates and terrain costs but this will be explained further as needed and I will try to put together an FAQ on my website (with the submission forms) so this information can be referred to when needed.

If at any time any of you have any questions please let me know.

Wink Re: SASL (Solitaire ASL) Game Idea

Remember guys and gals, only one turn a week in having to send "orders" in for this game.

And as a little "extra", you just may get "something" if you complete the game, compliments of that something being "worked on" here at The WW II Zone!!

Cheers, I'll fill you in later DD.....
