Re: SASL (Solitaire ASL) Game Idea

Hey DD, is it possible to post a higher resolution image of the map? I can't read the hex grid numbers even when I blow it up in photoshop. That makes it difficult to give orders.

Also, does each HQ get a SPW 250/10 as indicated earlier in this thread? Or do we have to arm wrestle for control. Or will there be a different vehicle for each HQ?

I'm ready to start posting in the GameDen as soon as you get a thread going.

The real map screenshots we will use will be much bigger and clearer, for now they are only meant to give a basic overview. The attachment script here resizes the images to about 800x800 max. These will be much larger images BUT will not be much bigger in file size. I will host them on my website and link them here.

There will be only one at the start and it will be under control of A Co HQ. The way SASL works, additional reinforcements "could" show up at any time during the game or not at all so anything coming in next goes to B Co, and then back to A Co, etc.

IF anyone has a good name for a small village near the Kursk salient please let me know. Our little village/objective needs a name.

Kursk ya say hey there, I think Prochorovka will do just fine

Cheers, now if we could only get some tanks for some good old fashioned tank ramming, as in 43!!

Thanks again for the "extended" chat on vassal, I owe you a big one!!

OK, the village is Korocha. It is northeast of Belgorod and south of Kursk. The time frame is the pre-Kursk fighting and about the time the Russians have more or less finished expanding the front lines after Stalingrad.

Re: SASL (Solitaire ASL) Game Idea

I have opened an official thread for the game in the "Game Den" titled Reconnaissance at Korocha (SASL Interactive Game). Please do not post there, it will be used for providing intel and updates to the players and I prefer it not to get clogged with questions about gameplay, etc. You can PM me with questions or use the new Reconnaissance at Korocha (GAME FAQ's) thread for players to ask gameplay questions so they are all in one place and can be referred to much easy as they will all be in one place. I will post a very detailed map in the next few hours so you can begin planning/providing me with your entry point locations.

You can find a very detailed map here. You should be able to see all the detail you need in this one. I recommend downloading and saving the map to your computer so you can refer to it when needed, rather than accessing it from the link each time (it is about .25MB in size in max zoom);

Re: SASL (Solitaire ASL) Game Idea

I will be closing recruitment for this game as of midnight, Friday, April 25th. As of that date we will go with the roster we have. Shortly after that I will start asking for Turn 1 Movement Orders so we can get everyone's troops moved onto the board. By then I should also have some basic gameplay information posted on my website and here on these forums in the
Reconnaissance at Korocha (GAME FAQ's) thread.

At Pirate-Drakk's recommendation I have also started a thread for the players involved to discuss among the group their plans and any other information that they choose to. You can find that thread here: Reconnaissance at Korocha (SASL Tactical Discussion).

Thanks, DD! Things are looking good. The map is great.

We need that other platoon filled everyone, so let's get recruiting! Even a few conscripts for cannon fodder are better then nothing...

Smile Re: SASL (Solitaire ASL) Game Idea

Thanks Shannon, but I'll take the extra squads if we don't have anyone else sign up, or I can handle the last (reduced) platoon as/if needed.

So get settled in for a great ride ahead and start getting to know your platoon leaders when you can. Not to much to do until we get the final post in the game den up and running before we all select where everyone wants to be from the map edge. Slow and easy so everyone here knows whats going on at the same time is the best here, from previous experience.

Cheers, lets show the Russians that they will get NO intel from our section of the line for that secret(cough....cough Kursk...cough...) op the mighty German Army is "throwing" for our Russian "comrades"........!!
Those special tank units that come after this battle will take care of any other Russian problems for the future as well.
