Feel free to advance on out into the open then. ;(

![]() Lets start here, for the moment, look at the left and right forest areas with Russian hidden units. 1. Think on P.D.s platoons to do a right flank pincher movement, and get those trees cleared of the enemy. 2. Meanwhile, My Co will try the same for the left side trees there. 3. THEN, after both areas are cleared, we can both go to the flanks of the middle Russian group, before hitting the main village. That may be where the toughest fighting will occur, with max casualties for us in the end. First priority is to reveil the "dummy" Russian units, and the real ones, then we can see where our heavier guns/mortars should be set up, to give cover, and a good chance to keep the enemies heads down (while taking the two woods). We can then "see" what actual enemy units, and their weapons, then deal with them with hopefully minimal casualties. ![]() Another plan may be to use BOTH Companies taking one of the woods, then deal with the other, then the middle and finally the main village complex. My general thoughts here from the info we have right now ladies and gentlemen..... So, feel free to comment, or suggest something else here, if you have other ideas/plans on this please. Then depending on what general plan we go with, we can enter our platoons (on the map) for maximum effect and less turn time taken in getting our first battle done. Cheers, comments and other plans are always welcome here by anyone who might want to jump on in!! Captain TRDG, Co A (I'll find a good name at some point )To a very fun and great game ahead of us ZONE members!! ![]()

Re: Reconnaissance at Korocha (SASL Tactical Discussion)
hm we have four platoons you could use the main line ee and attack from that line. the first platoon attacks through the area at point dd 6. the second platoon attacks through point dd3 the 3rd platoon attacks through point dd1/d1 and the 4th platoon attacks through point d2 a bit far fetched i know but the platoons attacking higher in the board can attack down opening te russians up to two fronts

Re: Reconnaissance at Korocha (SASL Tactical Discussion)
Because of our initial deployment areas, it will be difficult to concentrate all our forces on any single area except the middle between us.
Therefore, we are somewhat forced into a 3 prong attack. Since we have 6 platoons, we can send 2 to the left trees, 2 up the middle and 2 to the right clump of trees. Once in the trees, we have plenty of cover to protect us as we advance on the village. Given the concept of "unit coherence" mentioned previously, we will want our two companys to stay "connected" in the middle of the map as we move forward. Bare in mind the way movement works in ASL. You move using your movement points, and then there is an "advance" phase after all the defensive and advancing fire phases. During the "advance" phase units can move 1 hex regardless of movement cost. So plan your moves so during the advance phase you will move into the position desired. Also note that when firing into adjacent hexes firepower is DOUBLED (due to grenades) so it's better to shoot those "?" counters from a distance rather then bopping up adjacent to them and getting blasted at point blank.

I see, as I thought in general, but, I think we need to see what Russian units are in each woods respectivly, then go for the middle after. From my last one and only game in ASL, the houses prove to be better cover than trees, and it seems you take more casualties there, when taking houses.
Planning on long range contact, nothing close, to get the feel of the Russian forces, then decide which are might be weaker, or stronger, then put platoons where/as needed. A three prong attack without knowing what (most) enemy forces each area is covered by, would not be a good thing. Onc we deploy, a few Russians will "do something", that will give us some info. So, I suggest we just do the first Pre first turn, if I understood, move JUST into the deployment zone, check the results of Russian fire, then go for the first real move. I would hate to be any platoon commander facing more than a couple MGs and mortars in one area , then see only a couple Russian rifle squads covering somewhere else , a far easier objective by far.Captain T Co A. Almost forgot, depending on what is in the woods to the left or right, I plan on using the half-track, when it comes, to do some "remodelling" of some of those center houses. My bet is that if there are some Russian AT guns hanging around, they will be in the woods, not in the houses. But, one must watch out for the AT rifles as well, they maybe in those houses though..... It looks like Co B will have the next "big gun" from reserves, so what may be hanging on his side can be dealt with then, by that machine. Or we may have to move our machines around from one side to another, depending where the Russian armour is located, if/when they come in.......... Last edited by TRDG; April 26th, 2008 at 03:48 PM. |
