I remember seeing a documentary once where they interviewed all the old guys about their experiences. Two guys said that the child soldiers they came up against were the worst. They had to kill them...or be killed by them. Kids that age at the time had known nothing but Hitler and the war. I believe there were many cases of heroism among these kids. Not neccessarily through a sense of duty, but rather kids playing 'big boys' games.
