What a lousy date to die.

Re: The Fallen
Yeah! The wars pretty much over n' to die right at the end is a bit tragic.
I've got another picture of the backend of the same vehicle in a book that shows yet another Swedish casualty, a Swedish frontnurse.

Re: The Fallen
I thought his name sounded Swedish. Of course one doesn't hear much about Swedes in WW2 because of the neutrality. Though, I'm very familiar with the Swedish 'volunteers' for the winter war who over painted the three crown insignia on their Gloster Gladiator aircraft and sported the Jolly Roger against the Russians. Incidentally, if the Airfix 1/24 Gladiator is as good as they say, one of these aircraft is a strong contender for my work bench.

Re: The Fallen
3.3 AA 11 5.SS was called "The Swedish platoon". Today there's more or less only talk bouth the SSS (Swedish SS) volounters n' how they fought for Hitler. Truth to be told most of 'em was bascially anticommunists n' wanted to fight the Russians but still more than half of 'em was nazis. But what tends to get forgotten is that the was only about 200 n' that roughly 6000 Swedes or second generation emigrants fought for the allies.
