Ah, I see now what you referring to. I noted the Tyr runes in the background. I'm sure at least one set of those graves was later moved.

Good eye. The grave in the foreground obviously contains Russians and very well done for a battlefield burial. The roadside is lined with German graves, hence the Tyr runes, and made from the preferred birch.

A fight took place there, and due to the runes and a German column in the extreme background, The Germans held the ground.

The post of the Russian grave is birch.

This all leads me to believe that it was the Germans that gave their fallen advisories a decent burial.

I remeber way back, I saw some pictures liek these and always took it like the bad guys were gone. But now, (of course) you can't to think did he deserve it? No mattter what side you're on, or what your beliefs are, all of these guys look the same and could porbably all be really good friends. and they all died for for their country.
