Re: Civilization

Back in the day of x386 computers, Civ was one of the greatest Empire building games with color graphics! I wasted many a night killing the computer and finally I was able to win at the highest difficulty level.

I even got in an argument with my boss (good church going type) about the game. He was amazed that I had beat it at (Emperor Level?) as he could not, and asked me about my strategy. "Build n' Kill!" was basically my response. He got upset with me and indicated how there was "more to the game" then simply winning by taking over the world with military might. Of course, he was right, but my tactics ruled the day...then.

I didn't play Civ II, III, or IV until recently when I was cajoled by a gaming bud to by Civ IV and the expando pack "Beyond the Sword". WOW!!!!! Just like old times but better! After a month I'm starting to get where I can beat the comp at "Noble" level which is far from the most difficult. It's the same old Civ' but BETTER then ever! My old tactics won't work anymore because of the way they restructured the economy...Grrrrrrrr! You can buy it and download it online here:
Direct2Drive: Buy Civilization 4 Download

It's better then ever and I'm all a twitter about Civ again. Careful or you may lose yourself in Civ for a while...beware, I did warn you...

What did you think of the WW2 scenarios in Civ2 and Civ3? Btw, the Civ3 WW2 scenario came with the Conquests expansion pack, possibly, so not sure if you've seen it.
I've seen the expansion packs, but I didn't buy them.

I just own and play the basic Civ III game.

Its kinda cheating, but you can stack the cards more in your favor by creating your own world with the edit feature and add all the resources and luxury items you want to have in your section too.
(Even the advanced Military Units and tech stuff if you want.)

Thumbs up Re: Civilization

I still love CIV, and I play when the mood for world domination hits me. CIV III is as far as I've bought and the only other game besides SP on my rig.

It's OK to cheat, but if you cheat and lose, you might as well fall on your sword...

Re: Civilization

I once downloaded an absolutely huge world map in Civ3 and turned on every single civ. I played as the Chinese, so I was in the thick of it, though not as bad as one of the European civs. Before I knew it, because there were so many cities and so many units, the time it takes for the computer to do their moves was like 10 minutes between each of my turns! That burned away a lot of time, but it sure was fun in a crazy sense

Corruption really killed me in that game as I expanded into central Asia. Has anyone tried to mod the game and decrease corruption rate and see what happens?

Turn off the animated moves part in the options of the game.

It speeds things up no end.
