Civilization
Back in the day when I was a wee lad, I played my share of computer games. Naturally, history, WW2 among it, was a reoccurring theme. Civilization series of games had always been among my favorite. Do we have any Civ fans here? If so, what are your thoughts of the European War scenario in Civ 2 and the Pacific War scenario in Civ 3?
By the way, despite of Civ 4 being rather old now, I still haven't had the chance to try it yet... |

Re: Civilization
Yup, Sid Meier's. I started playing it from the original one, and Civ2 is probably the one I spent the most amount of time on (since it was when I was a student and still had time). I put in some quality time in Civ3, but nowhere near Civ2.
What did you think of the WW2 scenarios in Civ2 and Civ3? Btw, the Civ3 WW2 scenario came with the Conquests expansion pack, possibly, so not sure if you've seen it. |

Re: Civilization
I'm an old Civ fanatic that have played 'em all through the years. The best one has to be Civ II followed close by Civ IV. I've not been som much to dabble with the addons as I've prefered to not play those scenarios. I've branded Civ to be the most dangerous game ever for ones life as it really can wreck work, relations, sleep n' social life...

Re: Civilization
Thankfully it hasn't wrecked anything other than sleep, but I know exactly what you mean! Very addictive game.
If you have Civ3, Conquests is worth getting for the WW2 scenario alone (plus there are a few other fun ones). It's the Pacific War plus the Second Sino-Japanese War, and the year was 1941. The various countries are all somewhat well-balanced. I've won the game (though not gloriously) as the Chinese; I fought a successful campaign reclaiming coastal territories taken by the Japanese, and it was a very tough fight from my recollection even without the pestering communists. My second try with that scenario was Japan, and I ended up conquering the entire map, including the successful invasion of the US West Coast, following a long blockade. The game was definitely very fun, and you really do learn how important air power is across the vast ocean. |

Re: Civilization
I enjoy playing CIV II occasionally. It can be a real time chewer though it is fun. A bit like Warlords II. I don't know why I like Warlords, I just do.
CIV is good as it is has an epic quality - we all like the feeling of world domination at times. |

Re: Civilization
I've played I, II and I own III. I really like them but I don't think I'm very good at it. I still play on the easiest level. I often 'win' when the time runs out but I always end up being 'so-and-so the Meek' when I score, despite wiping out three other nations. Excellent games and I haven't even scratched the surface with scenarios or add ons.

Re: Civilization
In the end it doesn't matter what level you play on 'cos the thing that matters in the end is the amount of fun you get from playin' n' not what level you play.
