Re: Close Combat Games

I never played CCIII - only 2,4,5. I like the AI/game/maps for CC2 the best, but all the mods for CC5 make it highly interesting.

Re: Close Combat Games

Really good mods for CC5 at close combat series site. I think you would really enjoy CC5 mod Stalingrad: Operation Circle. Give it a go if you have
CC5. I didn't mean for CC3, I've never had that one.

OMG, the mods for that game. I havent played it in years, lets see if i can remember some of them.

Real Red or "RR"- by Ron Gretz. A mod of the base game. This is the one that started them all and is actually better than the base game in most peoples opinions.

Now im not sure of exact names but i know there were mods based on -

Pacific battles "Pacmod"
WWI
Normandy, American perspective {Several different aspects covered in several different mods}
Commonwealth Summer {A Normandy mod thats Brit and Commonwealth only}
Korea {I dont think this one is in existance anymore}
France '40
North Afrika

And i know there are many others i just cant think of them off of the top of my head.

There is only one place on the web you need to go to get all you need for the Close Combat series and thats the CSO Clan site. They have all the mods and maps you could ever want for any game in the series. Here is the link -

CSO CloseCombat Org - Web - Close Combat Portal :: CSO Close Combat (News)

Also check out this site as well, i forgot about this one -

Close Combat Series

Re: Close Combat Games

CC Org has been having some problems lately.

CC Series is a great spot to find your mod needs.

FYI - My Clan got this E-Mail from Sulla, he's the head Honcho over at CSO. And i quote him as follows -

"This is a very quick email to let you all know that CSO has moved to a
new server and a new domain.

All parts of CSO have now been updated. All scripts are now running the
latest versions and will be kept that way. No more hacks or emails
hopefully! We are completely rebuilding the site and are looking for as
much help form you the community as possible.

Some of the new features, either implemented or on their way:
New domain (Close Combat Org - Maps Mods)
New Server
All downloads back Online
latest versions of Software VB and PN now running.
VB and PN will soon have a unified login, so only one login for all of
the CSO network.
A new info Portal based on wikimedia is in place to document the
history and growth of the CC series, mods, people and Wars it depicts."

Re: Close Combat Games

Is close combat just an online game?
Is it something you have to buy in a store?
Or is it something you can download from one of the websites?
I've never heard of it, but if it's just an online game, I wouldn't be interested.
Please give those of us who never heard of it more info.

Re: Close Combat Games

It's not an online game but it's a 1-2 player game that can be played over the internet or LAN. But it's main course is singleplayer campaigns. Close Combat: Cross of iron is buyable over the net only as a download. It's more or less a reworked Close Combat III: Russian front. Close Combat I is too old to be runed on modern computers without difficultys. Close Combat II: A bridge too far is outdated in the graphics but the engine n' campaign mode is great. Close Combat IV: Battle of the Bulge n' Close Combat V: D-Day have a great campaign mode n' is warmly recomended. All should be available on CDRom in stores that still have 'ol games.
