Re: 21 Division 22nd Pnzr Regiment tank colors
Alot of 21st PD vehicles may have been in "Ambush Cammo" at that time as they pulled alot of rear guard actions.
Here is an example of the ambush Pattern on a JadgPanther:

Re: 21 Division 22nd Pnzr Regiment tank colors
The 21st had a varied list as far as vehicles went. The camo schemes were just as varied. You have a lot of leeway here. That's why so many like to model German vehicles. It is hard to be wrong.

Re: 21 Division 22nd Pnzr Regiment tank colors
Thanks guys!
Pirate, w/o being too much of a pain, is it at all possible for you to scan one one of the pics for me? The spotted version really looks great as well Panzermacher, thank you so much! We'll showcase many vehicles of the 22nd, but our main one will be a Tiger VI. |

Re: 21 Division 22nd Pnzr Regiment tank colors
What type of Tiger? A Tiger I or II? If it's a Tiger II then which turret? 'Porsche' or 'Henschel' variants. A Tiger I n' a Tiger II 'Porsche' should have zimmerit but not neccesary a Tiger II 'Henschel' but most likely as the ceased deliverin' zimmerit coated tanks from the factorys in september '44.
A Tiger I should have a threetone softedge airbrushed pattern while a Tiger II 'Henschel' should probably be in hard edge threetone ambush pattern. You're quite free with the pattern on a Tiger II 'Porsche' as there was a big variations on 'em but most of 'em fell prey to allied Jabos in Normandy n' would probably not be in ETO in october '44.

Re: 21 Division 22nd Pnzr Regiment tank colors
BIlly I been doing some research into the 21st panzer in the Vosges area and here is what I found:
1 October-11 November: Deployed on a 52-km broad front, the averages in combat forces in the area of the Vosges each day: 15 Mk IVs 4-5 light field howitzers with SP carriages 9 Batteries of 3 guns, among them 3 batteries with heavy howitzer "18" 2 Batteries with 88 AA guns 6-8 AT guns (88s) 10 At guns (75s) "The number of weapons was never greater than this but often considerably lower owing to losses". Pg 24 (see note 10 below). This may Historical affect the use of a Tiger 1 from this division. But, Two schwere Panzer Abteilungs with Tiger ones may have been in the area....(Fk) 301 and schwere Abteilung 506. (This comes from the book "Tigers at the Front" by Thomas L. Jentz. Entirely possible a TIger Platoon was used as 'fire brigade' here for the book purposes. According to the pics (B&W) the Tigers were Panzer Dunkel Gelb (Dark Yellow) over sprayed in a 'Tiger Stripe' Pattern with a Olive Grun and a Red Brown. The Particular vehicle in one of the pics has been heavily camoflaged with Deciduous foliage. (Due to Allied Air superiority) IT would look somewhat like this vehicle....covered in branches. ![]() ![]() ![]() Hope this helps... Below is the Unit ID of the schwere Panzer Abteilung 506 if you need it also.
