'Molotov Breadbasket'

I am sure that we are all familiar with the term 'Molotov Cocktail' describing a bomb made from petrol in a bottle, but did you know that during the winter war between Finland and the Soviet Union (1939-1940) the Russian airforce employed a bomb which the Finns named the 'Molotov Breadbasket'. A casing containing sixty small incendary bomblets.

Hands up all those who thought that the Americans developed the cluster bomb...?

I didn't know that, but as the old saying goes: "war makes inventive"

Do you know if they worked propably? Or were there some drawbacks?

Re: 'Molotov Breadbasket'

Has anyone seen the Soviet Ampulomet? This was basically a Mortar like device that fired Molotov Cocktail like devices. Some pictures on this discussion forum.
