Re: Photo of Patton

Wow, a man being awarded. If I was there, I would be shaking just in Patton's presence.

Hope your leg/foot is feeling better now, Jim. Too bad you didn't see the photo again in time, otherwise it might've helped you heal faster knowing that Patton probably would've slapped you silly as you lay on your sickbed ^_^

Re: Photo of Patton

My foot is finally "healed" thanks to an excellent orthopedic surgeon and a long screw in the bone. I still have pain when I go long distances. I probably always will. My leg swells some but not like it did back then. The big complication was extensive blood clots in that leg while in the original cast, some of which broke off and embolized to my lungs. That could have been (often is) fatal. That had an impact on when I could safely have surgery, and all of the management in the peri-operative period.

Since I was injured with something Patton could see on a simple X-ray, he probably would have given me my Purple Heart and let it go. His problem was with a soldier who had a mental collapse which I guess he likened to cowardice.

Re: Photo of Patton

Glad you are feeling better Jim! That must have been an ordeal.

I am a huge Patton fan as well. He is an amazing study.
