Photo of Patton

I forgot who it is, but I recall there is a Patton fan here on this board, so thought I'll share this:

WW2DB: [Photo] Lieutenant General Patton of the US 3rd Army awarding the Silver Star medal to Private Ernest Jenkins for gallantry during actions at Chateaudun, France, 13 Oct 1944

It's a nice photo of Patton. Taken while he was awarding a medal to a soldier, this photo shows his famed starred helmet and his ivory-handled pistol pretty up close.

Re: Photo of Patton

You are right. That IS a good picture of Patton...and his Revolver.
There was someone who had Patton as an Avatar. But I don't seem to remember who it was...

Yeah! Right! That is Jim. Come to mention him, I haven't heard anything from him quite some time.

Re: Photo of Patton

I don't know how I missed this thread. I guess I was recuperating from my surgery to repair my (then) unhealed broken foot so I wasn't on the computer much.

That is a great photo. It's part of a large collection of African American men and women who served in World War II that is held by the US National Archives.

The entire collection is also available here at World War II Zone Photo Gallery - African Americans in US Service.

Only when I have to...

Actually my leg was pretty swollen from complications I had had shortly after I initially had the fracture the previous April and so I had to keep the leg higher than my heart for much of the day. Sitting at my desk for long periods was out and I had to take care of business first.
