I can't pick just one. But my favorite favorites are;

The Normandy Campaign (landing through breakout)
Operation Market Garden
North African Campaign
The Ardennes Campaign
British/German/US tank operations

Re: Favorite Battle

Leyte Gulf for me despite my penchant for land-battles--the bigger the better. Favorite land battle would any pocket--German or Russian that included a real possibility of breakout; not anything that was baiscaly one-sided.

I'm with Dallas on this one. While it was North Africa that got me into WW2 history my interest is now in pretty much anything in the European theater to include the Med and ETO. Both of my grandfathers took part in the PTO but for some reason I just can't seem to get into it.

Re: Favorite Battle

Dallas hits my list pretty close to home, as well!

The Bulge has always been my favorite. Raid on St. Nazaire is my second!!!

Re: Favorite Battle

I'm most interested in Kursk and Karkhov. Then it would be the Ardennes Offensive.

Re: Favorite Battle

MMMM Favourite Battle, that's difficult, I would say those, which failed on the part of the aggressors for various reasons. Mostly because they inspire more debate than successes. Marketgarden and Kursk come to mind but there are many.

Re: Favorite Battle

My favorite naval battle is Leyte Gulf, There is no air battle I really get excited about, probably because most are really campaigns.
