Re: The Stalin Note

1st. As far as not being "out guned",(numbers of tanks etc.) I didn't realize what I had posted that until after.I beleive I made that point qiute clear in my post.Klaus, reread it. What I meant was, they were FAR from defenseless, as most pc ' historians' tend to preach. The victors write 'history' and anything to the contrary is concidered....well,not concidered. And as far as the numerous times Germany an Italy tried to make concessions and peace, war was what the 'allies' wanted and I guess we will never know due to the way it all turned out. Germany was very lucky in a lot of what transpired because it was she who was out gunned over all. Brilliant leadership,Hitler,VonManstein and Student were the most prominant leaders. The overall generals etc. were still bogged down with ww1 thinking. And yes Jim, a new thread could very well be in order.

Re: German and Russian Designs on Poland and Eastern Europe

I don't know who said Poland was "defenseless" but she was being asked to concede her territory and her only access to the sea. Why should the Polish government have agreed to sit down and talk? As I said, Hitler's past actions in Czechoslovakia had already proven that he would be "satisfied" only for a short while and then go back on his word. So much for his "non-agression" pact with Poland. If all he was concerned with was solving the "Danzig question" why did he need to take more than what he allegedly wanted. The answer is that he wanted a great central and eastern European empire and would obtain it peacefully insofar as possible and then by war, but war was going to come one way or the other.

I'll split this into a new thread at a point where I can see that it has clearly veered. Some posts may be left in both threads for sake of continuity.

Re: German and Russian Designs on Poland and Eastern Europe

@DDLDSDB: Sorry for the misunderstanding. But I never said that they were defensless. As I posted before: "They put up a good fight."
